Armagnac – Castarede XO – tasting

To get more familiar with Castarede I highly recommend visiting the official site at: www.armagnac-castarede.fr
There’s a lot of information given in French, English and Chinese.
Label.
Very shapely and elegant label which however does not contain much information. In this case we are dealing with an XO armagnac. As I do not have access to the cardboard I searched the official site of Castarede. An Armagnac Castarede XO (20-year-old) is available in the official on-line store, but with a completely different label.
I did receive an information directly from the producer that this is a blend of distillates aged between 20 and 30 years !

Tasting.
The aroma is very volatile. I have the impression that around the table at which I sat, the aroma of this armagnac is spreading.
Nose: very intense, sweet, dried fruits (figs), caramel, vanilla, fresh apples.
Mouth: toffee, fresh apples, dried fruits, apricots and peaches, all lined up with oakiness.
Finish: very long, slightly alcoholic, a bit peppery, fruitless and a little of tannins.
Pure pleasure to sip. I point it 7,5/10. Castarede XO has received many international and national awards over the years. It is a must try for any enthusiast !
Warsaw armagnac map.
This time I visited a bar located in the beautiful neo-renaissance Sobański Palace, in a representative part of Warsaw at Aleje Ujazdowskie. In addition to the Castarede XO which I tasted, there was also Castarede in the VSOP version.

Fans of whisky will also find something for themselves. The bar is stocked with a dozen of single malt whisky (unfortunately in basic versions).
